Chesapeake Jewelers and our store "Bailey Jewelers" are family owned and operated. Because we own and operate a neighborhood business we are also very involved in supporting our local arts and community organizations. We have a strong belief that shopping local empowers local. We are proud to put that belief into action by directly supporting everything from little league teams, Boy's and Girl Scout's, volunteer firemans associations, watermans associations, local fairs, pageants, numerous Art Leagues and Heritage foundations.
Melissa learned jewelry design and creation from her late husband Jonathan Bailey who himself was considered to be one of the top ten jewelery designers in the world. Together, Melissa and her late husband created several of the designs which comprise the core of our current Chesapeake Collection. Melissa accepted the mantle passed on by her late husband and undertook receiving gemological certification from the GIA. She continued to design and create jewelery obtaining her own awards while raising a family and operating the family business and store for 26 years.
Today Melissa and husband Mike continue the heritage designing and crafting nautical and sea life jewelery using the same hand crafted lost wax molding and casting methods. Melissa's eye for design coupled with her gemological experience have resulted in many private design commissionings and provide the foundation for our current collection of fine gold and silver jewelry items.
