I guess you could call me an accidental artist, although there are many artists in my family, it was 34 years ago while working as a nurse at Suburban Hospital in Bethesda, Md. that I became ill and was told I needed 2 weeks rest. My mom took me to our summer home in Sea Isle City, NJ where I sat down, looked out the window and said to myself. "oh my gosh I can draw" got a pencil and started drawing.
Years passed and many sketch's later I entered a watercolor class at the start of my 5th pregnancy, that was 20 years ago. It was then that I entered the art world. Meeting teachers, learning watercolor techniques, and most of all, learning to be myself and always knowing that an artist may learn many things, but an artist really teaches oneself, a teacher shows you the way. Along the way I was grateful to develop a mentor relationship with artist Judi Betts who I credit with teaching me design/composition/color. For the past three years I've been studying at the first art academy in the country, The Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts where I've been introduced to oils, and classical art education and in 2010 was in the first ever 'Florence Academy of Art" workshop offered at PAFA.
I've sold many works of art, and my art is in many collections over the world.
I became a nurse, and Art is just another way of healing myself, and healing others.
