The Annual Coopersville Car Show has been going for over 30 years. It boasts more than 500 cars lining Main Street and in the park, and the Car Cruise has had over 400 participants the last couple of years. This weekend event is put on by a sub committee of the Coopersville Rotary to help raise money for the NEO Forum, Scholarship funding and other non-profit events around Coopersville.
The Rotary Club of Coopersville was chartered on March 10, 1947. For more than 60 years, members of the club have provided service to the community in many ways. The very first project in 1947 was the lighting of the football field. Since then the Club has provided ball fields and parks, encouraged and funded youth activities, supported community groups, given scholarships, worked in classrooms and generally provided benefit to our community through the avenue of “Service above Self”.
The club is very grateful to continue our giving by holding the annual Car Show and Summerfest. The proceeds from this event will continue to benefit the NEO Forum and several other local non profits in and around our community. (NEO Forum is the Northeast Ottawa County program to prevent drug and alcohol use and prevent violence by school age children. This program is a cooperative effort with the Coopersville Public Schools, the City of Coopersville and the Ottawa County Sheriff's Department.) In the last several years of this event – with many thanks to our sponsors, we have been able to give back over $100,000.
