Davis Pottery is located in the small community of Bleeker, Alabama. Potter Janis Davis has continued the legacy started by master potter Pat Davis. Pat created and started selling her pieces in 1978. Pat made functional pottery and she sold her designs at craft fairs across the South-East. The young teenager, who is now Pat's daughter in-law, would hang out at the studio learning the trade. To keep from being in competion with her mentor Janis started creating a variety characters on her pottery. Together they would travel to shows and sell thier pottery. After college Janis focused on her career an educator. She did not create pottery again until she took an art teacher position in 2015.. Later, she began focusing on her own craft and Davis Pottery was revived. Davis Pottery is now mainly created by potter Janis Davis with a few rare pieces still made by Pat who is now in her mid 80's . The studio produces a variety of functional pottery, platters, bird feeders/houses, and of course one of a kind whimsical character mugs .
