The DeltaFusion Project

DeltaFusionis a celebration of the cultural diversity of Stockton and the surrounding Delta region. Giant puppets, masks, costumes, and floats will be featured in a parade on Saturday, July 23rd, the anniversary of the incorporation of the City of Stockton, followed by a performance at Victory Park.

The project involves a 5-week period of workshops, separated into two sessions. The full 5-week workshop (Session I) is recommended for teachers, artists, and adults interested in puppetry, mask making, and the use of the arts to enhance learning in all disciplines. In the mornings of the first 3-weeks, participants will focus on creating giant puppets, costumes, and masks that are the heart of the parade and performance, working with faculty from the University of the Pacific and guest artists fromIn the Heart of the Beast Puppet and Mask Theatreof Minneapolis. The afternoons will be spent studying storytelling techniques and devised theatre, the theories of Art Across the Disciplines, and in doing cultural research. After the first 3 weeks, participants join the faculty in guiding community members in Session II in the final preparations for parade and performance.

For Session II, the community is invited to join in, as part of the 2nd session of theHaggin Museum Summer Arts Program.Everyone, ages 6 and up, is welcome to be a part of this exciting event, where we finalize the story of who we are and how we came to be here in Stockton.

All are invited to celebrate and participate in these events as we honor the people and the industries that are a part of our local history.Join us!Make the puppets, walk in the parade and perform in the show!
