Copious Art, East Wallingford, VT
I am a self taught artist with a love of nature. I have been painting since I was 12 years old in many mediums such as oils, pastels, charcoal, and pen and ink. While I like painting in oils, acrylics are better suited for Conks. I have lived in Vermont my whole life and my paintings reflect the beauty this state has to offer.
Artist Conks are natures canvas and stimulate creativity by their unique differences. Each is a unique creation that cannot be duplicated!
I harvest the conks ( a tree fungi )in the spring and let them dry naturally for 3 to 4 months. I then further heat cure them and coat the fronts with gesso. After painting I then coat the backs with a gloss varnish and the painted surface with a matt uv protectant varnish. Some are mounted on driftwood for balance or for added interest.
