I explore the world of glass art through both traditional and modern techniques. My journey began in the 1970s with stained leaded glass, a medium I cherished for decades before transitioning to kiln-fused glass in 2016. This evolution in my craft has allowed me to discover new dimensions of expression and creativity. Living as a native in the stunning state of Colorado, I draw deep inspiration from my surroundings. The diverse landscapes, from the expansive Easter Plains to the majestic Rocky Mountains, fuel my artistic vision. My work often reflects the serene beauty of these natural environments as well as my love for flowers, which I fend endlessly captivating.
When selecting a scene, my preference is for the quiet, tranquil moments that nature offers. I am captivated by the inherent beauty that can be found in Colorado's plains, mountains, rivers and laces, focusing on harmonizing these elements into my designs. Inspiration strikes in the heart of my studio, where glass becomes a medium for both spiritual meditation and vibrant expression. It is during these creative sessions that I find myself energized by the way light interact with glass, transforming simple designs into dynamic, emotion-filled arworks. I love working with transparent colored glass partially over-layed on the elements creates new colors of vibrancy with the light penetrating through the design.
The kiln and I work in unison, however the kiln always gets the last word. Much of my technique has developed organically through years of hands-on experimentation. While I've had guidance from accomplished glass artists, much of my unique style is a result of trial and error, perseverance, and small triumphs. This journey has sculpted my art into something reverent and deeply personal, each piece a reflection of the world's beauty transposed into glass.
