I'm a newbie to the Festival Scene and am lovin' it already. Yeah, I know there are a lot of trials and tribulations associated with it but the overall experience seems to be well worth the efforts required. I presently have several festival apps in progress and am awaiting the acceptance letters.
I was accepted to the Penrod Arts Festival in Indianopolis in Sept.; have apps in to the "Start" Festival in MA in Sept., the Ft. Myers Art Festival in Feb., and Lobsterfest in Key West mid August. I am also going to apply for two of the shows at the Promenade in Bonita Springs, FL.
So far, I've only done one major festival (The Everglades City Seafood Festival) which was a 3 day deal. I made most of my costs back but not much profit. The experience I gained from it though, was priceless. I learned a lot about setting up and arranging my booth, and choosing my products & pricing based on the type of crowd in attendance.
I also did several Sat. morning Farmers Markets here in Bonita Springs and again, not much profit or sales but lots of experience and exposure.
As a newbie, I will welcome any and all advice and guidance from you fest veterans.
