Being raised within forty miles of Mount Rainier, I have always had an attachment to the Pacific
Northwest, with a particular fondness for the mountains. While in college, during the mid-
eighties (business, engineering & programming), I took a couple of classes in acrylic painting.
Within a year I moved on to oil paints and have never looked back.
Until retirement, there was never adequate time available for art, or so it seemed. My painting schedules were never consistent until retirement when my wife and I moved from Puyallup, Washington to Keizer, Oregon. I now try to paint several days each week unless life gets in the way. Art takes commitment and time. I am a board member of the Keizer Art Association where I also teach oil painting.
I am drawn, no pun intended, to semi-realistic landscapes, seascapes and cityscapes in a
contemporary fashion. I love the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest and try to bring out
that beauty in my paintings. History is also of great interest to me and I enjoy putting the old to
canvas. My goal is to make a painting that viewers feel they can walk right into.
