About

Elyse Bruce

Member Since: March 2, 2014

Elyse Bruce is a woman of many talents: She's a versatile and respected professional musician, singer-songwriter, composer, visual artist, playwright, and author as well as mom to a teen with multiple disabilities. She balances her time writing music, songs, short stories, novels and plays, and painting and photographing the world around her.

The "Quietudes" CD released in 2005 and the "Dreamtime" CD released in 2010 blend World Music instrumentation with traditional orchestra. By contrast, the "Countdown To Midnight" CD released in 2007 showcases 12 original songs with three breakout songs including "Armistice Day" which reached #3 on Native American Indian charts.

As an arranger, Elyse has written a number of choral arrangements, the most recent of which will be showcased by the well-known and celebrated Pigeon Forge Community Chorus at the 4th of July celebrations in Pigeon Forge, TN in July 2014.

As an author, Elyse Bruce's debut novel, "Glass On A Stick", has met with acclaim in the mainstream and disability communities. Reviewers and readers love her anthology of short stories entitled "A Summer Of Somebodies: Cautionary Tales for Modern Times" and her novella "Grand Theft: Cookie" is a hit with teens and adults alike.

Young readers, educators and parents alike have developed an affinity for young Missy Barrett, the main character of the "Missy Barrett Adventure Series" and the "Missy Barrett Conversation Series."  And the first book in the "Idiomation" series is purchased for inclusion on high school libraries in some of the southern states in the U.S.

In December 2013, she released “The Clip’n’Dip Praise The Heavens Multi-Faith Congregation” followed by “Missy Barrett’s Year In Review: The Year I Turned 8” – complete with 15 original drawings -- in February 2014.

Elyse also invests her time in learning new technologies, leading workshops and seminars, and teaching songwriting and marketing courses at the college and university level. As a philanthropist, she creates and promotes new and exciting projects that engage, involve, and benefit as many people as possible.

In many ways, she embodies the definition of a polymath: One who strives to preserve and integrate consciousness of the mind with the feelings and sensibilities of the spirit.
