I have been designing and painting one of a kind silk scarves for the past ten years. Most of my work is inspired by nature. Many of my scarves depict flowers, leaves, trees, and landscapes I find in NH. I also take special requests. Past custom projects include a mermaid scarf, Fenway Park and Heinz Stadium scarves.
Recently, I have expanded into batik. I collect antique copper tjaps (fabric stamps) from Indonesia, and hand carved wooden stamps from India. Using these stamps, wax, and dyes, I make unique and colorful silk scarves. I also use these stamps to make kitchen towels and bandannas.
I do not use any harsh chemicals in my painting. I use water-based paints and resists, and steam to set colors.
