I live in a house on a hill with this great view of some beautiful countryside. Most of what I see outside my window inspires me: The trees, flowers, fruit, six thousand different shades of green, wildlife, sunsets, sunrises, lightning, rain. You get the idea.
In addition to what’s outside my window, I have many other inspirations, the biggest one being the Creator of what’s outside the window. The idea of heaven inspires me, as does the idea of God creating everything. Think about it for a minute. There are moments in time (maybe outside of time, actually) that He creates. He thinks about and then creates colors, tastes, sensations, feelings. You. Me. Just thinking about His process is inspiration, but then wading into his actual creations is another inspiration. I could just let all of that swirl for hours.
I am an accidental artist. There was never a moment when I just knew I was supposed to be an artist. I simply adore creating things out of anything I can get my hands on and once in a while someone would say, “Wow. You should sell that” or “Would you make me one of those?” It’s scary when I put out into the public designs that I think are beautiful because art is so subjective that I don’t know if other people will think it’s as beautiful as I do. I finally had to get to the point where that part didn’t matter. What matters most is simply putting it out there.
