I started exploring raku firing of pottery from a hand built mud wood kiln in my backyard. I mostly use wild native clays dug from North Carolina. Once I learned clay processing techniques and wood firing, I moved on to an electric kiln that allows more consistent firing results. It is a journey of learning and raku firing gives me the surprise factor I just love to experience.
