I create art which responds to the natural world, through it reflecting upon the processes of life, death, and meditation.
Life and Death go hand in hand and are equally valuable and beautiful in their own right. Death does help bring us close to life- reminder of the fact that we have a finite time in this world. We need to take advantage of life and appreciate it every day.
I enjoy the form and delicate coloring of bones. They are the perfect metaphor for me to use in regards to life and death. Especially skulls because I identify with them so much more. I enjoy the depth of color and shading in skulls too. The eyes and nose cavities I am especially drawn to. I love making the bones and surroundings colorful to give them vibration and brilliance. Color animates them, celebrates them.
