Ganondagan was a major Seneca village that was occupied from 1655 to 1687 by over 4000 Senecas in about 150 Longhouses. It was designated a NYS Historic Site in 1980s and now comprises 560+ acres. The Friends of Ganondagan was founded to increase public awareness of the site and its history through programs, workshops, historic reenactments and Native American dance, music, and arts events. Its signature event is the annual Indigenous Music & Arts Festival in July.
