This 51st annual July 4 celebration in historic downtown St Marys (Nat'l Park Service gateway to Cumberland Island National Seashore) is set on the St Marys River and its surrounding salt marshes. This family-oriented event (no alcohol) features 5K and 10K races while vendors set up in the early morning, a parade, entertainment throughout the day, rides, & fireworks after dark. Family festival. Our Kiwanis Club cooks and sells Rock Shrimp Dinners. Vendors are restricted from selling seafood. The festival includes 5K and 10K races before the festival officially opens, a parade, food vendors along the waterfront of the St Marys River and its marshes,arts and crafts vendors along tree-lined Osborne (Main) Street perpendicular to the river, and entertainment all day long on the river.
