My name is Julie Chavez, I have made and designed jewelry for the past 12 years. I live in the east mountains of Edgewood, New Mexico. My style is contemporary and I love to work with silver, copper, brass, and semi-precious stones.
I fell in love with jewelry making after receiving a crystal beaded bracelet as a gift. I became so fascinated by its design and thought, I could make one of those. I did try and succeeded in making a crystal beaded bracelet.
My first formal training was with the New York College of Design. It was a 6-month course in designing, making, and photographing my work. But I wanted to learn more. I went on to take 3 years of silversmithing. then to opening my own jewelry boutique.
I have such a passion for making handmade jewelry, and I'm always open to learning new ways and techniques.
