Gilpin Railroad Incident, Verona Island, ME

Member Since: May 5, 2009
Verona Island, Maine

The Gilpin Railroad Incident was founded in the basement of a rural Maine Cape in Spetember 2005 when three friends who were cover band refugees decided to chase a long-held ambition: playing their own music anf revolutionizing a style of music-semi-acoustic roots rock- that was woefully under-represented locally.  Drawing from a wide array of musical influences, including southern and classic rock, contemporary country and pop, and blues, we started writting... and aquiring more singers and musicians to broaden, transform, and refine our sound.

In our short exhistance, we've tested our material at contests, parties, bars, street dances, festivals, fairs, radio TV, and a host of other avenues.  Quickly gaining local populatiry and building a solid and still-expanding fan base, the GRI has earned some intersting breaks in such a remote area as Eastern Maine: winning a battle of the bands our first year out' opening for country star Rodney Atkins, Zydeco phenom Steve Rilley and the Mamou Playboys, and rock roots icon James McMurtry; even performing at an "Extreme Home Makeover" cast and crew party.

At first regarded as the "fun party band," we're fast becoming noticed for our dynamic musical energy and intricate three-and four part vocal harmony work.  Moreover, with the evolution of our songwritting skills, we have on more than one occasion heard the comment, "It's like you've written this song about my life!" Well, we write about our lives, which encompass the same joys, sorrows, hopes, mistakes, and adventures as anyone else's.  We think that's why our music in some way always seems to touch everyone.

Gilpin Railroad Incident is...Chris Soper- guitar/vocals, Becky Bowden-bass/vocals, Brad Radley-guitar/vocals, Jennifer Candage-vocals/percussion, Aimee Hopkins-keyboards, Jaime Moore-drums
