Glasshouse Studio, Montrose, CO
Jean Santoro Sobieck, owner of the Glasshouse Studio, creates dichroic glass fine jewelry. Dichroic (pronounced die-crow-ic) means two colors, and refers to the reflected and transmitted properties of the glass. A similar effect can be found in nature in butterfly wings, peacock feathers, and opals. Jean carefully cuts and shapes each individual piece, no two of which are ever alike. Jean was born in New York City and studied at the School of Visual Arts. She spent several years as a stained glass artist prior to working with dichroic glass. All of her work is handcrafted and one of a kind, and she has won numerous awards for her work.
