When Hannah Kirby of North Texas received a phone call from NBC's The Voice producers asking her to audition, she had no idea it would lead to her performance before a TV audience of 10 million. She also didn't know that she would place in the Top Eight out of 50,000 contestants, guided by coach and superstar Blake Shelton. Reba McEntire, referring to the combination of Hannah Kirby's talent and humorous personality said during a coaching session on The Voice, "Hannah reminds me of my friend Dolly Parton."
When Hannah comes on the stage, she brings a unique ability to fulfill the expectations of her audience. She loves them and they know it! She skillfully sings and talks them through laughter and tears with a voice that can comfort and energize. So many times her fans will say that just hearing her voice makes them feel good!
Blake Shelton was mesmerized each time he heard Hannah sing saying more than once, "Hannah there is no one like you." Adam Levine told his team members after Hannah's performance, "Watch Hannah, she knows how to entertain and perform; I want you to do what she does." And of course, there was the quote of the Season by Pharrell Williams who said that Hannah "came out swinging her purse like a southern church lady." On her first performance after The Voice, Hannah received a standing ovation when she told her audience that she had come back to them unchanged, that she didn't let the experience alter who she was!
That's Hannah, genuine, transparent and open with a voice that, while powerful, is so smooth it travels from your ear directly to your heart. Pairing this voice with her violin solos that complement all of the above, Hannah is a performer who has been asked to return for another booking to each stage she has ever performed on. Hannah doesn't try to copy anyone. She once said, "The people who make it aren't copies of the stars that came before." Josh Smotherman of Middle Tennessee Music wrote, "Don't try to put Hannah's performance into a box. It won't fit!" Hannah brings an incredible group of musicians to her shows. The six piece band includes lead guitar, acoustic guitar, electric/upright bass, keys/organ, drums, and saxophone. Her original sound lays somewhere between Tom Petty and father of R&B, Louis Jordan and her covers consist of Joe Cocker, Aretha Franklin, Fleetwood Mac, and other greats.
