JD’S FINE WRITING INSTRUMANTS
John Dowell, owner of a custom shop, handcrafts precision ink and roller ball pens, fountain pens, and pencils one at a time, from American and exotic woods, acrylics, marble and other mediums, for those special occasions and for those who demand the best in their writing instruments. John has been making these writing instruments for over 4 years now and has the honor of winning a best of show award and his pens have now been sold or sent to over 35 states as orders or gifts.
John is a veteran of the US Air Force and served during the Viet Nam Conflict as an Electronics Instructor. After this tour of duty he spend 20 years working in the Medical Electronics field "X-Ray equipment" and then 18 years as an engineer for a major industrial fan company, retiring from both fields. Retired now and spending most of his time making his writing instruments he still finds time to work part time with his last employeer.
John started his woodworking career making custom bunk beds, ice box replics, buck board seats, gossip benchs etc. but soon migrated to his pen making upon buying his first lathe and finding that his skill in this area surpassed his wood working skills.
