Steve and Janet Kynard: The Faces Behind Alabama Tree Faces
We are very excited to announce the launch of Alabama Tree Faces. With the launch of our new venture, we feel it only fitting to introduce you to the faces behind Alabama Tree Faces. We are Steve and Janet Kynard in the small town of Titus, Alabama. Our love of the outdoors started when we were very small children. We spent most of our childhood playing in the woods. Steve in Selma, Alabama and Janet in Athens, Georgia. With both of us coming from families of modest means, we learned to make toys, tools and forts from whatever items were lying around. This started a lifetime of the love of creating things with our hands. Whether we're remodeling a home, restoring a boat or decorating our home or yard, we choose to do the work ourselves to create something beautiful and one of a kind.
While wanting to create a truely enchanted forest on our property, we had a tough time finding tree faces that depicted the expressions and unexpected atmosphere we wanted for our trees. Being the creative people we are, we spent 7 months in research, development and manufacturing coming up with our own faces. Low and behold, Alabama Tree Faces was born out of our want to see our trees express their personalities and create conversation pieces for our guests to enjoy. We have chosen to take tree faces to the next level. All of our tree faces are handmade right here in the great state of Alabama.
We have made our own molds and each face is individually hand poured. The faces, in a variety of expressions, are then hand painted in several color schemes to either blend with the trees or slightly contrast. The topping on the cake, so to speak, are the hand painted glass eyes that bring the whole face to life.
We are released our "Forest Collection" first. In this collection, we have 4 characters: Ivy, Buckeye, Willow and Merlin. They will add a whimsical air to your yard. They bring your trees, fences and walls to life. Wherever you choose to display them, your family and guests will be wowed by the unusual and unexpected atmosphere you create. The Forest Collection is available in three color schemes: Golden Pine, Forest Oak and Rustic Pine and will give you many years of enjoyment. You have a choice of 3 different hand painted glass eyes to complete your tree face: Blue Baby Doll eyes, Green and Gold Frog eyes or Fire Lizard eyes.
We released our second collection "Fan Faces" to coincide with the college football season with hand painted, real to life elephant and tiger eyes. We are very excited to release our "Beach Collection" in 2018
