Jolie Maki, Snohomish, WA
I returned to school after a successful 18 year career in graphic design to acquire a BFA degree in the metal arts with a minor in art history from the University of Washington. My current medium is 18k gold, sterling silver and gemstones. With an interest in history and various world cultures, I have selected ancient metalsmithing techniques, such as forging, chasing and repoussé to use in fabricating and embellishing my pieces. My curious selection of stones, some collected and some which I do the lapidary creation myself, are used to inspire unique designs and carry mystical powers for the wearer. I am currently exhibiting at several galleries in King and Snohomish County area of Washington.
My ultimate wish is to share the beauty of organic forms found along my path. Enjoy!
