Although I have worked in a variety of arenas: writing, editing, teaching, bookkeeping at the end of the day when all is quiet, I pursue my true passion--creative arts. I have always enjoyed working with color and texture whether sewing, painting or collage.
Most recently I have been designing pillows. It all began with a too-small quilt square that was to complete a quilt for grandson Sam. I had spent hours on it and did not want to waste it, so it became a pillow. Ironically, it was a butterfly!
Since then I have been experimenting with design, texture and technique. I enjoy utilizing vintage fabrics and buttons, burlap and a variety of embellishments. Most pillows are painted but some are embroidered and applique'ed. Still others are a tapestry of all components. I love adding words that encourage or inspire or that just bring a smile.
I enjoy the creative process from first scribble to grand TA-DAH! I have found that art is really a reflection of life: the common and sacred, blended with purpose, becoming beautiful when touched by grace.
