Kate Keating, Van Alstyne, TX
I am a self-taught artisan. I was living on an island in the Pacific Northwest. After losing a favorite earring, I bought sterling silver and gems and kept on tearing up silver until I got it right. Since my humble beginnings, I have moved to a farm on the Blackland Prairie north of Dallas TX. I love gaining inspiration from my surroundings, which are beautiful in all seasons. I really LOVE antiquities of all types, and when possible strive to infuse them into my work. I am drawn to the oddly shaped, the unusual, the eclectic, and try to always show a bit of humor when possible. Comments have been very positive, and I am very humbled by the excitement shown from those who have found that perfect piece. I have always loved Native American jewelry, particularly that of the American Southwest, and have been finding some awesome turquoises from Kingman, Number 8 Mine, Sleeping Beauty Mine and some from Nevada as well. Looking forward to fall and winter shows and travelling the South and Southwest.
