Painting at an easel in the open garage of my art teacher's home at age 11 was the first time I felt it. That lost and found feeling one gets when they love what they are doing. Ever since, I've been chasing that state of being. Always exploring, testing and trying. I am lucky to have found several paths to that place. The path that led to these paintings was paved with many years as a graphic designer, artist, and illustrator. Things have come full circle since those early years in that art teacher's studio. I feel as though my muse has been found again.
My own studio is a converted dining room. (I'm lucky that our dining table fits into the living room quite nicely!) That's where you'll find me most days at the computer or at my painting table. I currently paint intuitive abstract paintings exploring color, process, and mark-making. My preferred materials include acrylic on canvas, board or paper, pencil, charcoal, collage and various mark-making tools. I love listening to a podcast or music while I work. My inspiration comes from nature, music, poetry, design and the many incredible artists I enjoy and admire. But, my kids—they inspire me the most. When I'm not making art or doing freelance design, I am reading, spending time outdoors with my family—hiking, biking, exploring, watching a little Netflix, or having a chat and a glass of wine with my friends.
