The name of Lorrayne Mill's jewelry business "Ancient Desert Skies" began in Patagonia Arizona as a shop in "The Patio" that she created back in 2001, about the time she arrived to Arizona from Long Island NY. The Ancient Desert Skies shop featured her jewelry designs, fine crystals, local and eclectic musicians' instruments and CDs, varying artists' unusual quality pieces, beautiful clothing and accessories to support Tibetan refugees, books, all interesting rare items. The intimate Patio courtyard she created was a lovely floral gathering space and stage for varying artists, performers and holistic workshops. It was a low key jewel many sought out once they learned of it. It was not for everyone, but for those that were of its liking, it was a unique oasisl. There she began her quest in both supporting music that she loves and the arts, as well as making her fine bead jewelry designs customers would travel far to find. While she made her jewelry, you could find her chatting with guests and serving hibiscus or sandalwood tea on off days from performances and workshops. Many will remeber Lorrayne working there amongst flowers and unusual artwork under an umbrella at the shop's entrance. Initially the Ancient Desert Skies shop was a spontaneous romantic start she worked on in this rural southwest desert town, most who know, love and cherish. It was a small town, and yes...eventually it was time to take Lorrayne's jewelry to vaster exposure outside the small southwest desert town she began in Arizona.
She loves to use unusual crystals, rocks, turquoise and gemstones, and personalize each one of a kind piece.
All of the jewelry is authenticated on her card with all of the materials listed top to bottom, as well as where the turquoise, several of the beads and handmade sterling silver or gold artbeads are from. If desired, the cards are personalized with the name of the person to who the piece is going with a little message or blessing and Lorrayne's signature. Since all of her jewelry has authentic and rare natural crystals, stones and turquoise, she feels it is important everyone knows what they are purchasing.
All in all it is a personal experience for each individual, but she gets alot of feedback her peieces become talismans or worn everyday even though they are usually pretty intricate and rare designs.
