MLK Jr. Park Committee exists to provide maintenance and care for the MLK Jr. Memorial Park. The park is a historic landmark in the Penn Center Historic District of St. Helena Island, SC. The park is the site for community events, festivals and gatherings. The park committee raises funds to help provide needed repairs and up keep of the park to include the repair of benches, picnic shelter and table, flag pole, garbage removal, community bulletin board and pay park utilities. Moreover, the committee sponsors an annual community cookout to thank people who help with park maintenance.
