Inspired by the natural environment of the place where I live, what I see, feel, and experience during my interactions with the land and the indigenous flora and fauna, is reflected in the artwork I create. The body of work I am presenting includes pen and ink drawings with watercolor, acrylic and oil paintings, and pottery. These pieces reflect the experiences I have in the mountains of Southwest, Virginia. The paintings depict collections of plants and animals throughout the seasons. The pottery is primarily handbuilt from slabs of stoneware clay. The whimsical nature of the carvings added to the imperfect slab forms, make each functional piece unique. These ceramic pieces are a joy to use when serving meals or for just a quiet moment for tea.
