Almost twelve years ago, I saw some Victorian buttons and was so enamored with their beauty, art, craftsmanship and history, that I bought everything I could afford. I spent the next year searching for the right jewelry setting to showcase them. After that, I took silversmithing classes to learn how to make a box clasp. I design the piece and collaborate with a silversmith to make the box clasps. He makes every one by hand. I continue to be inspired by the buttons when I design the strand of gemstones or pearls or hand weave seed beads to accompany them. Each one has a history and each piece is a conversation piece.
