Mavazzi was founded 10 years ago, originally as a custom clothing company. Mavazi, which is a Swahili word for clothing, was the dream of the CEO, Alice, who designed, cut and sewed her first outfit at the age of 8.
Alice was influenced by her mother, Agnes, a seamstress and shrewd businesswoman in Kenya. Agnes not only sewed, but designed and created unique works of art with her hands. Watching her, and later participating in the production of unique and artistic pieces created a deep love in Alice for art, design and all things handmade.
Alice has ventured into extensive handicraft making and is excited to not only create, but reveal to the world the talents and capabilities of other gifted artists from the African continent through the exposure and sale of their inspired handiwork.
