1. MBEGA ARTS began in 2002. It takes place in one of the most beautiful regions in TANZANIA Bagamoyo Historical town, Coast Region, the organization of a professional Tanzanian dances theater in.
The Mbega Arts is a Folk music and dance, state funded ensemble Mr.Che Mundugwao. Based in Bagamoyo, Tanzania we focus on the traditional dance and music of the Tanzania Basin with an aim to bring a greater appreciation of this music and dance culture, both within and outside of Tanzania East Africa. There are many different ethnic cultures living within the Tanzania Basin, each with their own dance and music styles. Our work includes examples of many of these, but particularly focuses on the traditional Tanzanian dance and music culture.
Our repertoire includes performances designed for both adults and specifically for children. These present the traditional dance and music with particular attention to style and regional differences. All our work is adapted for stage in a modern and creative way, without undermining the strength and beauty of the authentic dance and music culture.
