Metasequoia Creek in Multnomah County near Bonneville Dam, was named in 1999 for the 23 million year old, conifer Metasequoia needle and cone fossils in it's creek-bed. Metasequoia is Oregon'state fossil. Oregon Sunstones are the state gem.
