Metasequoia Creek
Metasequoia Creek, is a creek in Multnomah County near Bonneville Dam. I named the creek in 2000 for the 23 million year old, conifer. Metasequoia needle and cone fossils occur in its creek-bed. I wrote a report for the Oregon Department of Geology and Mineral Resources in 1999 entitled Miocene Metasequoia Creek Fossils. Metasequoia is Oregon's state fossil since 2004. I have earned a master's trophy for my fossil display from the creek. I give a lecture about the fossils and have the display. I charge $100 for a hour and a half.
I have been a flintknapper for 15 years. I demonstrated in the Clackamas County Fair for 10 years in the Pioneer Village. I can teach someone to flintknapp an obsidian arrow-head in a hour or two lesson. You keep the arrow-head and a flingknapping tool. I charge $60 to teach someone.
I have also been a gold miner for 15 years and a member of the NW Mineral Prospectors Club for as long. I can teach people where to find, how to read a river for gold and how to pan for gold efficiency. You will pan a little real gold to keep. I charge $60 for a one to two hour lesson.
