Two of my greatest passions in life are my family and painting. Through my artwork, I seek to express my own personal blessings through color to capture scenes and events as I see them and to share with others the beauty and diversity of them. I was born in Sisseton, South Dakota and spent most of my life in Boulder County, Colorado. In 2004, my husband Mark and two daughters, Brittany and Cassandra moved to Green Lake, Wisconsin. We enjoy lake life and cherish our time as a family floating on the waters of Green Lake. It is there that my inspiration for painting came about. With the beauty of the State of Wisconsin and its lovely four seasons, it is here that I have captured my passion for painting. I began expressing myself through art in 2011 and have found it a true blessing. It is my goal as artist to encourage this closer examination of ordinary things by presenting them in unusual context. While my subjects vary widely, I find myself repeatedly drawn to florals, dragonflies and abstracts with deep colors. A fine piece of artwork is not only the creation of beauty, but also the result of my own significant emotional and aesthetic consideration before ever putting brush to canvas. This allows me to not only record a literal moment in my heart, but rather the emotion or experience of the moment. Acrylic or watercolor on canvas is usually the medium of choice for my creative expression. I also enjoy painting on heavy cold water press paper and old glass windows found in the wonderful shops of Wisconsin or genuine barn sales. I love taking something old and making it new again! I am still excited about the power and magic of painting and its ability to capture my own unique selective perception of the moment in a form that I can share with others.
