EXHIBITION RULES & STANDARDS
ART IN THE PARK GENERAL INFORMATION

Set up Dates/Times: Thursday June 28, 2012, 3:00-8:00pm; Friday June 29, 2012, 6:00am

Space: Each display space is at least 12’x12’.

Spaces will be allocated at the discretion of the Art in the Park organizers and assigned on a first come first served basis. Requests will be considered and met whenever possible. Corner spaces are not charged or allocated as prime locations. See exhibit rules regarding the sharing of display space. Electrical or water service is not available.

Eligibility: Open to all artists and all media. Work must not be mass-produced, and the artist must exhibit his or her own work.

Sales Tax: Exhibitors must collect and remit 6% sales tax. Call the Michigan Treasury Department at 1-800-367-6263 for sales tax forms.

Jurying: All artists must submit five (5) photos or jpeg files on a cd: 3 of the work to be exhibited and sold; 1 work-in-progress; 1 of the exhibit (featuring artwork). Disks should be labeled with the artist’s name and medium. Please include a self addressed stamped envelope with at least $.63 postage to return your disk or photos; or submit registration and photos of works on line at http://meridianconcerts.com/artinthepark/artinthepark.html; or Photos/cd belonging to the accepted artists will be returned at the show. Artists that participated in the past will need to send photos of their work.

Prizes: The day and time for on-site jurying of artist’s work will be announced at Art in the Park. The artist(s) must be present during the on-site jurying to be eligible for prizes. Prizes will be awarded at the close of the final day.

Public Admission: Open to the public at no charge.

Information Center: Art in the Park hosts a Customer Service Center in Hackley Park where visitors can receive lists of artists, their location, plus other information and services.

ART IN THE PARK EXHIBITION RULES

All artists exhibiting at Art in the Park are required to remain open for the complete duration of published hours of the Exhibition. Exhibitors who do not honor this implicit agreement are ineligible for prizes and will not be accepted the following year.

Parking of any vehicles in Hackley Park is prohibited. Access walkways and aisles will remain clear. All materials must be contained within the boundaries of the designated display space.

No debris may be left in Hackley Park. No drinking of alcoholic beverages is allowed within Hackley Park.

Exhibitor’s pets are not allowed at Art in the Park. Display spaces are not transferable. Booths may be shared, but each artist must complete an application form and jury requirements. No more than two artists may share display spaces. Any cancellation received after June 1, 2012 is non-refundable. Any prior cancellation will be assessed a $25 fee. There will be a $35 charge for returned checks. Resubmission of payment must be made by money order or certified check with the $35 charge included. Stakes are not permitted in Hackley Park. Displays must be weighted down.

ART IN THE PARK EXHIBITION STANDARDS

All work must be of original design and processed by the artists. Artists may not exhibit or sell Subcontracted work. No reproductions are allowed, including but not limited to offset reproductions, resin castings, injection molded plastics and commercially printed photographs. All work must be safe and non-toxic and fit for its intended use. If any work requires special or limited use, the artist must fully disclose and explain this to the public. The work exhibited by the artist must match the quality and balance of the photos/slides submitted to Art in the Park for consideration. The jury reserves the right to reject items during the show that are in poor taste, or not the quality or media category submitted for review.

Exhibitors not in compliance with the rules and regulations will be asked to leave the show immediately without a refund. Such items as imports, plants, velvet paintings, manufactured or kit items and any Commercially or factory produced merchandise from artist shops of any kind are not eligible for entry. Any commercially produced parts used in a work must play a subordinate role and may not be sold separately.

Exhibitors may not display more than a few items that are essentially alike. Artist should avoid a mass produced appearance to their displays. Joint members must both have a part in creating the work, with one member having register for the space. No weapons may be exhibited or sold. If you believe that your work transcends the Exhibition Standards, you are welcome to apply to the Art in the Park Committee for determination of eligibility. Exemptions are granted on an individual case basis. A request must be made in writing at least three months before Art in the Park (on or before April 1, 2012) to allow the committee adequate time to respond. Exhibitors who violate the exhibition rules will not be allowed to participate the next year or be eligible for prizes. The Art in the Park staff make all decisions regarding rules compliance.

VILLAGE CRAFT MARKET GENERAL INFORMATION
Set up: Friday June 29 – 6:00 am
Space: Each display space is 10’x12’.
A limited number of spaces with 110V electricity are available. There is an up charge of $30 if an electrical hook up is requested.
Eligibility: Open to all crafts persons. Work must be handmade and non-mass produced. Any crafts person determined by officials to be engaging in “buy-sell” will be asked to leave immediately without a refund. No buy-sell will be accepted in the artist area.

Exhibitor Review: To exhibit in the Village Craft Market, each crafts person must submit six (6) photos or jpeg images on a CD: 3 featuring each work to be exhibited and sold; 3 showing a work in progress for each item. VILLAGE CRAFT MARKET EXHIBITION RULES

Streets reopen for traffic at 6:00pm, Sunday, July 1. Exhibitors must be packed and moved out by 5:00pm. Access walkways and aisles will remain clear. All materials must be contained within the Boundaries of the designated display space. No debris may be left on the streets. All work must be of original design and hand crafted by the craftsperson. Absolutely no “buy-sell”, face painting or “hawking” will be allowed at any time. All work exhibited is to be the original work of the craftsperson. No reproductions are allowed, including but not limited to offset reproductions, resin castings, injection molded plastics and commercially printed photographs. All items to be sold during the show must be listed on the application. Items not listed shall be removed from the booth upon request of the show coordinators.

Welcome to Muskegon Art in the Park! Please read all of the instructions below on how to submit your application online before beginning the submission process. At the bottom of the page their is an option to download and mail in your application.

To register as an Exhibitor online:

1) Click on the your appropriate link below: Enter your information on the Muskegon Art in the Park Registration link OR Village Craft Market Exhibitors link. Once completed select “submit.”

2) Complete Registration: Once you submit your registration information, you will automatically be directed to the link “Complete registration and Pay Here”; click on the link to enter the shopping cart, create your account, and enter your payment information. (Remember, to fully complete the registration process, you must visit the shopping cart, create your account, and process your payment).

3) Create your account: Once your into the shopping cart click on the “My Account” tab, click on “details” and enter required information to create your account.

4) Find your exhibitor/booth location: click on the “Items” tab, click on “Artist Booths;“ hover your cursor over the street/area map and click, a detailed pop-up map will appear indicating locations. Make note/write down section pop-up header and site # you would like to reserve.

5) Hold your exhibitor/booth location: In the “Items” tab, click on “Reserve Booths“, select “Artist in the Park Exhibitor” or “Village Craft Market Exhibitor“, enter the section pop-up header and site # you would like to reserve, and quantity; click on “Add to Cart“.

6) Payment: click on “Check Out” and enter the required information for payment.
