As a long-time artist/crafter/painter, I enjoy exploring different mediums. I've found polymer clay to be one that I can combine my many different talents to make original design products. Combining my love of florals and other items found in nature, like butterflies and bees, I've been able to create miniature art pieces out of clay for everyone to enjoy.
Roses are my favorite flower, and using polymer clay in it's many beautiful colors, I've created art pieces with roses in several different forms, decorating candles, wine glasses, and small art pieces to enjoy around your home. I've also enjoyed creating jewelry pendants from clay that look like miniature paintings, and can also be used as key chain and zipper accessories.
All of my pendants are finished by hand sanding with multiple grits of sand paper, then buffing to a high shine which brings out the beautiful colors of the clay. Or for an interesting and different look, I've coated some with a clear coating epoxy which makes them shine like crazy. Either way, it's very difficult for people to look at them and believe they really start out a chucks of solid-colored clay. The most common comment I've received about them is "are you sure these aren't painted?" as the shading and depth of color in the individual pieces is just unbelievable. Each piece is lightweight, durable, and ALL are unique, individually hand made, with NO TWO EXACTLY ALIKE.
With the variety of applications of poly clay, I'll be enjoying the beauty of this craft for many years to come.
