Late in 2013, I was looking for a new hobby, something visually creative but also tactile to balance out the hours a day I spent in front of a computer screen for my day job. I stumbled over the art of quilling purely by accident while reading a blog about greeting card design, and I was instantly intrigued - while I'd never considered myself much of an artist with paint or pen, I've always been a doodler, and here were all the swirls and curlicues that decorated the margins of my notebooks, brought to life in paper! My local craft store had a couple tubes of pre-cut quilling strips (it must have been fate as I haven't seen them since), and a passion for paper was born.
A third-generation entrepreneur, I've never met a hobby I didn't try to monetize, and in December 2014 I launched North Star Papercraft, first on Etsy, then as a website , and finally in late 2015 I dipped my toe into the art fair scene. You can also find North Star Papercraft on Facebook and Instagram.
