She’s from Little Rock, Arkansas, graduated from Tuskegee University, got married in Chattanooga, Tennessee, lived for two years on Fort Benning, attends church in Columbus, and now resides in Phenix City. But her shop is in Opelika.
“I consider the whole area as one big community - well, not Tennessee and Arkansas, but this whole east Alabama/west Georgia region. It’s home for me and my family,” says N. Brown, photographer and owner of the new OPELIKA ART & GIFT COMPANY located inside Angel’s Antique & Flea Mall in booth H28.
Her shop specializes in one-of-a-kind handmade gifts and original art and photography. “I refuse to do resell,” states Brown adamantly, “If it’s in my shop, that means it was hand made - right here in this area - by local artisans.”
And what can shoppers expect to find there? “Oh, just about any gift worth giving - signed original photography and canvas art, hand made purses, bags and totes, herbal goat milk soap, handmade lampshades, seasonal gifts,” answers Brown, “And the reason I put my shop in the antique mall (when I had opportunities to display my work in a gallery) was to keep the costs to the customer within reason. So a buyer will be pleasantly surprised when they shop there."
