I am a woodcarver. I do mostly relief carving. I use only handtools,no power tools. I make 12 inch carvings up to 6 and 8 foot carvings. Some are hinged into folding screens.
As a child about 6 years old I watched my mother carve two pieces. I did nothing until I was an adult, when I asked her to teach me. She told me to keep both hands on the tool and clamp my work. And that was all she would tell me.
