Scioto Gardens grows perennials, ferns, grasses, trees and shrubs with an emphasis on native plants. But the owners' passion for plants couldn't be limited to only native species, so exotics are also grown— provided they are not species detrimental to our environment. Handcrafted garden art and sculptures by area artists are also available for sale. Because the owner herself is an artist, her combined enthusiasms were behind the creation of their annual Gardening and Arts Festival held the third Saturday in July. Plants and art are arranged in the sales areas in landscape settings, creating an unusually realistic and pleasant setting.
