Artist Statement
Even as a child, I had always been fascinated with putting things together. Whether it would be jigsaw puzzles, sewing a dress or putting something together to create a look of my own, I felt a sense of accomplishment. I had a childhood friend whose mother dabbled in stained glass. I was most intrigued with the glass. When she passed, I received one of her stained glass panels. It was so beautiful. I decided that I too would check out this glass thing she had going on. As I began, I realized that the only limitation to art is the imagination, so I began to create. Now it has been over 25 years since I created by first piece and still learning more. I went from leaded glass to fused glass, and I am looking forward to my next adventure with glass whatever it may be. I guess you can call me a glass-a-holic.
Being blessed with a husband who also has an interest in stained glass, we bring our own styles to create pieces together and separately. Having been in the skilled trades field as a machinist, David was used to the “stay within the lines” aspect working from blue prints. Now he is thinking “out of the box” and creating art of his own and has been doing so since 1996.
We have incorporated Lake Michigan Driftwood in our designs and each is certainly a one of a kind piece. Whether we use metal or wood with the glass, we hope that we can bless others with the beauty and uniqueness of each piece.
