Living my Dream!
My favorite courses at Bowling Green State University in Ohio were jewelry making and weaving. I retired In 2012, and now early in the morning I walk the shoreline to watch the beautiful sunrises, get some great exercise, and to collect shells and sea glass. Cobalt sea glass, a baby tooth, scotch bonnet, or sundial shell are true treasures.
Fall of 2012 I began turning my growing collection into one of a kind pieces of Shellry, sea glass and shell jewelry. I finally put my weaving classes to use! I took a local class to learn how to wire wrap sea glass pendants and earrings. In March of 2013, I was accepted in the Lighthouse Point Yacht and Racquet Club Art Exhibition on my very first try. The show was a big success for me so I decided to continue to develop my skills and challenge myself to create different designs.
In the summer of 2014 I entered a show at the Broward Art Guild. Not only did I win a Judge's Recognition award I also sold the sea glass wrapped piece. For each show the Guild changes their theme, attempting to create three pieces jewelry keeping with the theme challenged me to experiment with many different items and construction methods.
At 65, I decided to try my hand at developing a website to sell my creations. I hope you find some Shellry that is prefect for an item in your wardrobe.
