I was trained to make Native American style flutes by an elder from the Ojibwa (Chippewa) tribe in Northern Michigan. I have been making these instruments for the last 15 years. My instruments are made to closely resemble the traditional Ojibwa love flute.
I'm a recording artist. My CD titled Sound Healing is sold world-wide. Additionally, I have 3 other flute meditation/relaxation CDs that I sell. That music can be heard on my website www.stevewyse.com.
I also perform my flute music live both on stage and inside my sales booth.
My flutes are concert tuned to a specific key and can be played with other instruments. The flutes are mostly made from Eastern Aromatic cedar which is considered to be a sacred wood in the NA tradition. Each flute is shaped and tuned by hand. Some flutes also include intricate carvings - all done by hand.
Additionally, I make a one of a kind walking stick flute that is made from a natural branch. This is a fully functional flute that doubles as a walking stick. To the best of my knowledge, this is truly a one of a kind work of art. I have not found anyone else who makes these from natural branches.
