Susan Forsythe, Annapolis, MD
I am, above all else, a genuine and passionate person. Being a hermit by nature, I am happiest spending time at home with loved ones nearby. Now that I’m an empty nester, I find myself with far more free time and far fewer preoccupations.
Having loved arts and crafts as a youngster, I started taking supplies out of the closet in the Autumn of 2010; airing my idea books, and indulging in countless hours of heavenly bliss.
I’ve always been a voracious reader but all of a sudden, the novel on my bedside table started collecting dust. At some point, I lost my appetite for trying new recipes and serving elaborate meals. The television was seldom “seen” or heard, and the vacuum cleaner was quick to follow suit.
All I wanted to do was paint ceramics. When I wasn’t painting, I was thinking of color combinations, designs, techniques, and whatnot. It became clear at that point that I had found “work” I could be passionate about. Thus, on November 8, 2010, Beautifully Practical was launched as a home based business.
Being hesitant to put all my proverbial eggs in one basket, I created quality beaded jewelry and keepsake bags in addition to my hand-painted ceramics. Four months later, I began phasing out the jewelry and bags, having decided to invest myself fully in my one true love.
The majority of hand-painted ceramics I offer are primarily practical in nature. The designs and colors are chosen based upon the ambiance I hope to impart. As mentioned earlier, I am both passionate and intense, ergo my inclination to favor bold designs and deep colors. Every once in a while however my softer side will come to the forefront; that’s when you’ll find more fluid designs and softer colors.
Regardless of my mood, I promise you this:
Every home can use something beautifully practical.
Warm regards,
