I started my sewing creativeness by placing second in a high school clothing contest and have always enjoyed sewing and creating different items as Christmas gifts. I made my sisters wedding dress and our bridesmaid dresses. I am now a retired Emergency Room nurse who worked in the ER for forty plus years. During that time, the hospital where I worked developed a specialized Pediatric section. One day a small child soiled her favorite blanket and we had nothing to substitute to comfort her. Later that week I shopped at a fabric store and purchased fleece material to create blankets for the children we cared for. The nurses and other staff members would take one into the room when they had to give a treatment. If a blanket was left behind after the child was discharged the blanket was washed and donated to a local animal shelter. Upon retiring I redesigned the blankets and added a matching stuffed animal. Over the years I have collected different types of Santa Claus figures but realized I was looking for something different. After receiving a kit as a gift many years ago, I redesigned the Santa from the kit and added my own touches such as redesigning sweaters from Good Will and creating "Theme Designer Santas". Last year I created handbags from repurposed blue jeans and progressed to key rings, bracelets, and Christmas stockings. I continue to develop new ideas as life goes on, inspired by living near the sea
