The Belladonna Lily, Moscow Mills, MO
I consider myself to be abstract artist working in a combination of Watercolor, Alcohol ink and Resin. I use a verity of tools, including; air and heat to move the mediums around on everything from paper and scrap lumber to recycled glass bottles. I let the color, medium and process take each piece where it wants to go, then I define what I see. I work in these mediums because I can not control them, they are free and move in ways I can not predict. It often feels like a dance.
I have been creative all my life, with a career as a graphic designer and the owner of a Design/Marketing Firm, I have had the privilege and joy creating for my clients, here is where my work needs to make a statement, and convey the message my client needs it to make, it is a very precise medium, with rules and standards.
In my personal art I enjoy mediums that do not adhere to rules and standards. The opportunity to work in any medium I want, using any color my heart desires, is a pleasure I can not define. I can only say that the time I spend in my studio makes my soul sing and puts breath in my lungs.
This artwork I create is about discovery, and finding what makes you smile, feel good about yourself and brings you joy everyday. It doesn't need to create conflict, political unrest or environmental change, for me “Happiness” is all the statement my artwork needs to make.
