The Birchtree Center transforms the lives of children and youth with autism. Since the nonprofit first opened its doors in 2002, the number of students with autism in New Hampshire has increased nearly sixfold. Over that same time, Birchtree has provided over half-a-million hours of one-on-one programming and instruction to students with autism at school, at home, and in our community.
Thirty public school districts in New Hampshire, Maine, and Massachusetts rely on Birchtree's autism expertise. In 2017, Birchtree's autism specialists traveled 60,022 miles to help 114 students in their public schools and family homes. Twenty-three school districts send students to Birchtree's day school in Newington–the only school in New Hampshire that serves students with autism exclusively. Throughout the school year, Birchtree's admission-free workshops provide practical tips for families and educators.
