The Birds and the Beads is a mother-daughter team living in beautiful Northern Michigan. The two women enjoy creating one of a kind jewelry pieces, sewing, beading and painting.
Kate, the daughter, has a Bachelor Degree in 2-D design with her focus on Printmaking and Art History. Kate also has a Bachelor Degree in English Literature and Psychology and is currenetly earning her Masters in Social Work. Sharon, the mother, holds a lifetime full of creativity and artistic inspiration.
Always with an Eco-consciousness the women use sustainable materials as well as many upcycled items. The work that comes from their studio has connections with nature, body and soul. The use of copper in most all of their pieces is not purely for its aesthetic value as copper is known for it's healing properties. Freshwater pearls and small bird charms are also found in many of the pieces.
Their work is featured in several local galleries in Traverse City as well as on Etsy.
