THE DAYS OF 49 – Short Bios
Harvey Charles (lead and slide guitar, vocals) - was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan, in the shadow of the Gibson Guitar factory. He was taught Orchestra guitar by the famous, Herb Tompkins; later he relocated to Florida where he opened for many national touring acts such as the Beach Boys, the Four Tops and the Turtles. As a Musicians Union session musician in the 60's and 70's he worked in both nightclubs and recording studios. He later relocated to Los Angeles where he played for over ten years and is now back in Florida where he continues to perform. He has recorded nine CD's three of which are currently available on CD Baby.
Ed Mezick (harmonica, percussion) - is originally from Endicott, NY but has lived in Florida most of his life. He started playing harmonica while in college after falling in love with the Blues greats such as Little Walter, Sonny Boy Williamson, Junior Wells and James Cotton. He gradually evolved his personal style into a more melodic sound following the melody of a song. He has jammed and played in and around the Space Coast for many years now.
Rick Seguso (rhythm guitar, vocals) - is originally from Westchester County, NY and has lived in Florida since 1989, all in South Florida, only recently moving to Titusville in October of 2014. Rick has lived all over the US and in the early 70's he worked as a stage and lighting tech for many bands such as ELO, The Doobie Brothers, The Beach Boys, Canned Heat and Steppenwolf. In the mid 1970's he became the Road Manager for Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band and played an important role in the Superstar's rise to fame. Rick is a self-taught guitar player and has been writing songs and poetry since he was a teenager. He has one new CD that is available on CD Baby called “Don't Give Up”. Rick is also a successful fine art oil painter. His work can be seen on line at rick seguso.
